A letter from Hayes' Daddy
My son "Hayes" was a true gift from God. Hayes was a
son that every
man would love to call his own. I miss
Hayes so much and I don't know what to
do. Hayes was
the best thing that has ever happened to me, and he
was
truly my BEST friend.
I love Hayes so much and this just isn't fair. I
know
we've got to go on, but it's difficult. I always wanted
Hayes to have
the best and be the best. I am so proud
of him, Hayes was the total
package.
I'm thankful for the years I had with Hayes. I believe
I'm
the lucky one because of all the ball games,
great times, teaching Hayes how
to tie his shoes,
how to swim, ride a bike, catch a ball, play
basketball,
drive his jeep, drive his sea doo, cut the yard,
wash a car,
do electrical work, dig a ditch,
stock the shelves, treat other people
right, how to be
productive, and I'm the one who got the opportunity
to
mold Hayes.
Hayes was just becoming a man. Though his life was
short
lived, he lived a full 16 1/2 years to the max.
There was nothing he was
afraid to do or try. Hayes
had the best smile and the whitest teeth that a
person
could possibly have. Hayes was athletic, great looking,
great body,
nice hair style, intelligent and a hard worker.
All of Hayes' cousins looked
up to Hayes as their hero.
Hayes' dream was to become a FBI agent and he
wanted to
be one of the President's private officers. I believe
Hayes
would have accomplished his dreams. I want to
thank God for giving me the
opportunity to raise and
love Hayes. I'm truly thankful and "very" proud of
Hayes.
He was and still is my #1.
Love,
Daddy
Hayes had this framed and gave it to Scott for Christmas
2001 which was Hayes' last Christmas
Thank You, Dad, For Always
Encouraging Me To Be The Best I
Can
Dad, I wish I could find a way to let you know how
important you
are and how much I respect you.
I will always be grateful to you for being
there
and showing me what truly matters.......
If I have failed to
learn the lessons you taught me,
it is not due to a lack of encouragement
from you,
But a lack of understanding and appreciation on my
part....
As my priorities change and develop,
I find myself looking
for direction from someone who has
given me more than I
deserve.....
You have been the one who stood behind me in every
way,
the one who pointed me forward, nudged me on, and
the one who has
shown me that life is to be taken for
what it is and made into something
grand.....
All that I am today, I owe to you.
I hope I can make you as
proud of me as I am to have
someone like you for "My Dad".
I Love
You
